Sea Isle City's E-Newsletter May 5th

MAYOR'S MESSAGE:
Even though we recently completed the resurfacing of many roads here in Sea Isle City, we still have more road work in our future - and we are doing all we can to receive outside funding for such projects. Last week, we received a phone call from Governor Christie's office regarding additional grant opportunities for road paving, which we will pursue immediately. And, we will continue to monitor our grant application with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the reconstruction of the sewer system along Central Avenue (49th to 69th Street) and the resurfacing of that stretch of road. Now that the federal budget has been resolved, we have been informed that we should receive notification about the Central Avenue project within the next 30 days.
Speaking of our roads, if you have recently driven through the north end of our town, you may have noticed that city workers have completely cleared and swept both sides of Landis Avenue to provide safer parking and easier travel for bicyclists and pedestrians. We will continue to monitor this area throughout the summer, as we understand that more clearing and sweeping might be needed along Landis Avenue's north end in the coming months.
You also may have noticed that work has begun on the landscaping project near the base of the Sea Isle Bridge at JFK Boulevard. This work is being done by our public works crews as well, and the end result will beautify the main entrance to our city.
With spring here, we are in full swing making sure that the City is in tip top shape for the summer, and getting ready for all of the activities and events lined up for the season. Every summer, we witness a ten to twenty fold increase in our population, and to prepare for this influx of people and increase in activity involves tremendous planning, analyzing, refining, and execution of a multitude of operations and projects. To support a summer population that approaches 50,000 people requires a coordinated effort between all of our departments, and we've worked hard to develop a strong organization to accomplish our mission. CITY COUNCIL MESSAGE:
During our last City Council meeting on April 26, we introduced an ordinance that would make 43rd Place (Park Road to the Bay) one of Sea Isle's noise-free zones. This came about after a request was made at a previous council meeting to address the noise issues on 43rd Place. After a review conducted by a committee of city officials was completed, it was determined that over the last few years the noise complaints have been escalating on 43rd Place, which warrants making that area a noise-free zone. That same committee will be reviewing Sea Isle's existing noise-free zones to determine if changes are needed in those areas due to the success of our anti-noise policies. The committee will also determine if any other new noise-free zones should be added in other neighborhoods.
Following the May 17 Council Meeting, there will be a Public Workshop at 2:00 p.m. inside council chambers to discuss possible zoning changes and design standards, such as window sizes in commercial districts and landscaping. As was previously stated in the April 21 E-Newsletter, SICPD Chief Thomas D'Intino demonstrated the use of Sea Isle's new parking kiosks during the April 26 council meeting. The kiosks, which will replace traditional parking meters in several areas of town, are easy to use, and, as an audience member said after the demonstration, "If you can use an ATM you can use these kiosks." Chief D'Intino announced that there will be more kiosk demonstrations during Community Day on May 21. Also, there will be class-2 police officers available at the beginning of the summer to assist motorists in the use of the new kiosks.
When you drive through town, you will notice the new "Veterans Boulevard" signs at the intersection of Landis Avenue and JFK Boulevard. Due to these new signs and the collaboration between the city and VFW Post 1963 regarding veterans beach tags and the remodeling of Veterans Park, the members of Post 1963 recently honored Mayor Leonard Desiderio by presenting him with an appreciation award. Council would like to congratulate the mayor for this honor and thank Sea Isle's many veterans for all they do for our community.
As many of you know, the Sea Isle City Historical Museum is moving into the new library at 48th Street, which will open later this year. The museum's former location at 4208 Landis Avenue is temporarily being used by Sea Isle's Save Our Strays (S.O.S.), who has recently opened a thrift shop in that space called "The Crooked Tail." Also, as of May 7, S.O.S. will be classified as a 501(c) 3 tax deductible charity. During the past few years, S.O.S. has successfully reduced Sea Isle's stray cat population and found new homes for many felines. The city would like to congratulate them on all of their efforts and thank the S.O.S. volunteers for their good work.
PROJECT UPDATES:
JFK BOULEVARD BASKETBALL COURTS & PLAYGROUND: Work is continuing on replacement of the basketball courts, provision of new lighting, fencing and sidewalks, and resurfacing of the entire playground area adjacent to the basketball courts with a cushioned safety material similar to that at the Dealy Field complex. The playground equipment will be completely new (purchased under separate contract), with state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible equipment for children of all ages. The project remains on track for completion prior to the summer season.
EXCURSION PARK ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX: Work at the band shell continues with roofing and siding of the bandshell now substantially complete. The focus will now be on installation of the electrical and audio/visual systems to provide for the City's full entertainment lineup for the coming season. The landscape walls have been completed, along with the decorative "compass" paver area; and the beach pavilion is framed and sheathed to receive the decorative roofing within the next two weeks. The contractor remains on track to complete this project prior to Memorial Day Weekend and in time for the City's Tri for Our Veterans Triathlon.
85TH STREET LIFEGUARD STATION/PUBLIC RESTROOMS: Roofing, siding, and decking has been completed, and work continues on interior renovations to provide for handicapped accessible restrooms, additional restroom facilities and improved storage capacity for lifeguard operations. The project is being performed by City Public Works forces, providing for overall cost savings, as any contracted work for a project of this size would require the payment of New Jersey prevailing wage rates, which exceed the rates being paid to the City's employees. The building will be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
59TH STREET FISHING PIER: Necessary structural repairs and re-decking of the fishing pier has also been completed by City Public Works forces, and the pier has been opened for use by the public.
INFLOW AND INFILTRATION REMEDIATION: This project is the culmination of over two years of planning, investigation, assessment and engineering related to the City's sanitary sewer system. The City maintains a 40+ mile long sewer main system, and this multi-phase project involves the rehabilitation of selected sewer systems in order to minimize infiltration and inflow of ground water and flood waters into the sewer system. The first phase involves correction of those sewer systems allowing the most infiltration. The citywide analysis identified specific areas most in need of correction within three separate geographic areas: One - from 22nd to 41st Street; Two - from 60th to 69th Street; and Three - from 69th to 85th Street. The City administration has detailed reports which present the results of the past two years of investigative work, and over the coming months we will provide updates on the specific project work to be undertaken to systematically perform the corrective sewer work. Ultimately, this work will reduce the flow of water through our sewer system, with a resulting cost reduction in the sewer charges assessed by the county utility authority.
SOUTH END DUNE FENCE AND GRASS PLANTING: This project has been completed, and involved the placement of dune fencing and dune grass from 73rd to 94th Street. This project was part of the City's overall beach management program, which involves beach replenishment, dune construction/maintenance and overall monitoring of the City's beaches in conjunction with the State DEP and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As a result of the City's beaches being recognized by the Army Corps and FEMA as meeting the criteria of "engineered beaches," the City will be able to be reimbursed for up to 75% of the cost of this $87,000 project.

Sea Isle City Newsletter 4/25
A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
As I have said in the past, maintaining public safety is critical to the success of any community - and having a sound, reliable police force is necessary in order to keep the public safe and secure. Last week, I personally witnessed our local law enforcement officers perform their duties in the midst of an unusual situation. During a potentially dangerous standoff, which followed a violent domestic disturbance inside a private residence, our police department was forced to call in the Cape May County SWAT Team. For seven hours, the situation was very tense until the suspect in question surrendered to authorities and the night ended peacefully. Throughout that evening, however, I was greatly impressed with the professionalism shown by our police officers and by the county's SWAT Team, which includes three members from our own police force. I would like to thank both of those organizations, as well as the members of the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps and Sea Isle's Volunteer Fire Department, who also responded to the scene. It was clear to me that each of the men and women who helped bring that situation to a peaceful conclusion realized that the safety of the surrounding neighborhood - and everyone involved - was the number one priority. My hat goes off to each of them for their devotion to our community.
While mentioning public safety, I am pleased to announce that the city is currently exploring the possibility of placing more stop signs along Central Avenue from the downtown area to the South End. Additionally, to help control traffic along Landis Avenue, we are working with county officials to add a flashing light on Landis Avenue near the bend at 83rd Street, which should help slow traffic there as well. We will keep you posted as both of those projects develop.
Sea Isle City's Community Day will take place on Saturday, May 21, at the Community Lodge. During that event, representatives from local organizations will share information with the public, and many of our city's department heads will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Plus, there will be family activities and other worthwhile attractions, including a BBQ fund raiser, which will benefit the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps. Also on May 21, Funland Amusement Park will officially open for the season. So, mark your calendars and don't miss any of the fun on Community Day.
As the 2011 season unfolds, keep in mind how important our beaches are to everyone who summers here. To ensure that we will always have strong beaches with plenty of sand, we are working with FEMA and the New Jersey DEP regarding future beach replenishment projects. As any Boy Scout will tell you, it is always best to be prepared, and that's why we want to be in the position to add sand to our beaches whenever we need to do so. After all, there's no need to wait until the next natural disaster to plan what our response will be. We'll let you know how that effort develops as well.

During our most recent City Council meeting, which took place on Saturday, April 16, we were pleased to announce that the minutes from all recent City Council meetings (beginning January 2011) can now be viewed on Sea Isle's website, www.seaislecitynj.us (click the Government/Council tabs). The minutes, which are provided by the City Clerk's office, are not a transcript of the meetings but rather a brief synopsis of the agenda and citizen comments. Providing the minutes to the public on our website is an example of our continued commitment to the openness and transparency of your local government. Minutes from other council meetings (prior to 2011) are also available through the City Clerk's office at City Hall.
In place of individual parking meters, the City has recently installed new parking kiosks in the Marina District, along the south side of JFK Boulevard and also on West Jersey Avenue. For everyone's convenience, these easy-to-use kiosks will accept cash, credit cards and debit cards. During the next council meeting (Tuesday, April 26, 10:00 a.m.) representatives from our police department will demonstrate how the parking kiosks function. Much more information will also be available at Community Day (May 21) and throughout the summer.
Also during our last council meeting, there was much discussion about the New Jersey state law that requires motorists to stop for all pedestrians at every corner and in all crosswalks. Council wants to remind all residents and visitors that the law states that all motorists must stop whenever a pedestrian is on a corner, whether there is a crosswalk present or not. Our police department will be monitoring this issue closely throughout the summer
PROJECT UPDATES:
JFK BOULEVARD BASKETBALL COURTS & PLAYGROUND: Work is continuing on the replacement of the basketball courts, the provision of new lighting, fencing and sidewalks, and the resurfacing of the entire playground area adjacent to the basketball courts with a cushioned safety material similar to that at the Dealy Field complex. The playground equipment will be completely new (purchased under separate contract), with state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible equipment for children of all ages. The project remains on track for completion prior to the summer season.
EXCURSION PARK ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX: Work at the new band shell continues. The band shell's siding is being installed, as are the electrical systems, which will support the state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment to provide for the City's full entertainment lineup during the coming season. The promenade's landscape walls have been completed, along with the decorative "compass" paver area. The beach pavilion is framed, and the installation of the pavilion's roofing, cupola and railing will follow in the next few weeks. The contractor remains on track to complete this project prior to Memorial Day Weekend and in time for the City's Tri for Our Veterans Triathlon.
MARINA BOAT RAMP: Construction of the concrete boat ramp has been completed and it has been opened for operation. The City has already received several compliments about the improved conditions for boat launching.
MARINA BUILDING: The steel superstructure of the building has been erected and the installation of roof decking has commenced. Delivery of the siding and finished roof material is expected within the next 2 to 3 weeks, which will allow the contractor to enclose the building and complete the facility prior to the summer season. In addition to Marina operations, the new facility will include public restrooms.
80TH STREET WATER TOWER REHABILITATION AND REPAINTING: The finishing touches of the project are being accomplished, and the refurbished water tower has now been painted with "Townsends Inlet Sea Isle City." The tank has been refilled and is expected to be placed back into operation before Easter weekend. This was a critical project to maintain the City's infrastructure in order to ensure the delivery of water during peak demand.
85TH STREET LIFEGUARD STATION/PUBLIC RESTROOMS: Work continues with the installation of exterior siding, decking and interior renovations in order to completely rehabilitate the structure, provide for handicapped accessible restrooms and additional restroom facilities, and provide improved storage capacity for lifeguard operations. The project is being performed by City Public Works forces, providing for overall cost savings. Any contracted work for a project of this size would require the payment of New Jersey prevailing wage rates, which exceed the rates being paid to the City's employees. The building will be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
59TH STREET FISHING PIER: Necessary structural repairs and re-decking of the fishing pier is also being performed by City Public Works forces in advance of the summer season. The project is substantially completed, and the pier will be opened for use by the public before the end of April.
47th PLACE BULKHEAD: The City has contracted with Walters Marine to replace the deteriorated bulkhead at the 47th Place street end (contract amount $133,644). Last year, City staff, in conjunction with the City engineer, rated the condition of all of our bulkheads citywide, and 47th place topped the list of those needing repairs. The necessary permits were acquired to perform the project, and work is expected to be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
53rd STREET BEACH STREET END: The City is systematically replacing beachside street-end bulkheads, recently completing 53rd Street. The 51st Street end will be reconstructed next. This work is being performed by City Public Works forces.

• The Townsend Inlet Bridge (between Sea Isle City and Avalon) will be temporarily closed for cleaning and painting at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22. This is one of three possible overnight bridge closings on that span, with the next due to take place sometime next week (weather permitting). As I have said in the past, maintaining public safety is critical to the success of any community - and having a sound, reliable police force is necessary in order to keep the public safe and secure. Last week, I personally witnessed our local law enforcement officers perform their duties in the midst of an unusual situation. During a potentially dangerous standoff, which followed a violent domestic disturbance inside a private residence, our police department was forced to call in the Cape May County SWAT Team. For seven hours, the situation was very tense until the suspect in question surrendered to authorities and the night ended peacefully. Throughout that evening, however, I was greatly impressed with the professionalism shown by our police officers and by the county's SWAT Team, which includes three members from our own police force. I would like to thank both of those organizations, as well as the members of the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps and Sea Isle's Volunteer Fire Department, who also responded to the scene. It was clear to me that each of the men and women who helped bring that situation to a peaceful conclusion realized that the safety of the surrounding neighborhood - and everyone involved - was the number one priority. My hat goes off to each of them for their devotion to our community.
While mentioning public safety, I am pleased to announce that the city is currently exploring the possibility of placing more stop signs along Central Avenue from the downtown area to the South End. Additionally, to help control traffic along Landis Avenue, we are working with county officials to add a flashing light on Landis Avenue near the bend at 83rd Street, which should help slow traffic there as well. We will keep you posted as both of those projects develop.
Sea Isle City's Community Day will take place on Saturday, May 21, at the Community Lodge. During that event, representatives from local organizations will share information with the public, and many of our city's department heads will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Plus, there will be family activities and other worthwhile attractions, including a BBQ fund raiser, which will benefit the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps. Also on May 21, Funland Amusement Park will officially open for the season. So, mark your calendars and don't miss any of the fun on Community Day.
As the 2011 season unfolds, keep in mind how important our beaches are to everyone who summers here. To ensure that we will always have strong beaches with plenty of sand, we are working with FEMA and the New Jersey DEP regarding future beach replenishment projects. As any Boy Scout will tell you, it is always best to be prepared, and that's why we want to be in the position to add sand to our beaches whenever we need to do so. After all, there's no need to wait until the next natural disaster to plan what our response will be. We'll let you know how that effort develops as well.

A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
These are definitely exciting times for our community! As you drive or stroll through town, you will see our new library, entertainment center and playground and basketball courts (on JFK Boulevard) all taking shape. You will also find Sea Isle’s Department of Public Works remodeling the life guard station and restrooms at 85th Street and new shops and stores getting ready to open as “our Sea Isle City” puts its best foot forward.

A MESSAGE FROM CITY COUNCIL:
Hats-off to Sea Isle Revitalization and the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce for another successful shoulder season event! Girls Weekend, which took place March 25-27, was a huge success. These organizations have been instrumental in extending our fall and spring seasons and bringing summer events to Sea Isle City. This autumn, Revitalization and the Chamber will be merging to make one strong organization – all for the betterment of Sea Isle City. Note: The Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will host a city-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 7. The usual yard sale permit fee has been waived for this event and all homeowners are invited to participate. To learn more, visit www.seaislecitynj.us and click on the “What’s Happening” link.
Several years ago, Sea Isle City started an outside dining program for local restaurants. This year, more businesses than ever will be offering outside dining, which has been a successful venture and continues to grow in popularity. We encourage all to take advantage of this alfresco dining experience this summer.
Parking Kiosks are here! The city has begun to replace some existing parking meters with modern parking kiosks, which allow drivers to use credit cards or cash to pay for parking. The city recently purchased additional parking kiosks for the 2011 summer season, which you will see prominently displayed along the south side of JFK Boulevard and in the Marina District. The city will have an extensive orientation program for the public, with a demonstration at Community Day on May 21 and also during a future council meeting. As mentioned earlier, the city will host its 2nd Annual Sea Isle City Community Day on May 21. During that event, information will be provided on many city programs and services. May 21 will also be the opening day for Gillian’s Funland Amusement Park.
Engineering and design work has been completed for our Central Avenue Paving and Utility Reconstruction Project (49th to 69th), which includes new sewer hook-ups, road reconstruction and surface repaving beginning this fall. We are still waiting to hear if we will be receiving federal grant money up to the tune of $1 million, which will help off-set the cost of this project. This spring, we delayed the project in the hopes of receiving grant money; however construction will begin this fall regardless of grant approval. It all depends on the federal government’s budget approval in the coming days, which will affect the amount of available federal grant money.
During our last meeting, City Council recognized 1st Bank of Sea Isle City for their high level of community involvement. In recent years, 1st Bank has donated a great deal of money to this community, much of which has been used for signage throughout town. The owners and employees of 1st Bank continue to be vital volunteers and supporters of local efforts – and we thank them for all they do.

(contract amount $631,000) will replace the severely deteriorated basketball courts and provide new lighting, fencing and sidewalks, along with resurfacing of the entire playground area adjacent to the basketball courts with a cushioned safety material similar to that at the Dealy Field complex. The playground equipment will be completely new (purchased under separate contract), with state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible equipment for children of all ages. Demolition and clearing of the existing site has been substantially completed, and new construction will start within the next week in order to keep the project on schedule for completion prior to the summer season.

The contractor remains on track to complete this project prior to Memorial Day Weekend and in time for the City's Tri for Our Veterans Triathlon.

As you drive or stroll through town, you will see our new library, entertainment center and playground and basketball courts (on JFK Boulevard) all taking shape. You will also find Sea Isle’s Department of Public Works remodeling the life guard station and restrooms at 85th Street and new shops and stores getting ready to open as “our Sea Isle City” puts its best foot forward.

A MESSAGE FROM CITY COUNCIL:
Hats-off to Sea Isle Revitalization and the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce for another successful shoulder season event! Girls Weekend, which took place March 25-27, was a huge success. These organizations have been instrumental in extending our fall and spring seasons and bringing summer events to Sea Isle City. This autumn, Revitalization and the Chamber will be merging to make one strong organization – all for the betterment of Sea Isle City. Note: The Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will host a city-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 7. The usual yard sale permit fee has been waived for this event and all homeowners are invited to participate. To learn more, visit www.seaislecitynj.us and click on the “What’s Happening” link.
Several years ago, Sea Isle City started an outside dining program for local restaurants. This year, more businesses than ever will be offering outside dining, which has been a successful venture and continues to grow in popularity. We encourage all to take advantage of this alfresco dining experience this summer.
Parking Kiosks are here! The city has begun to replace some existing parking meters with modern parking kiosks, which allow drivers to use credit cards or cash to pay for parking. The city recently purchased additional parking kiosks for the 2011 summer season, which you will see prominently displayed along the south side of JFK Boulevard and in the Marina District. The city will have an extensive orientation program for the public, with a demonstration at Community Day on May 21 and also during a future council meeting. As mentioned earlier, the city will host its 2nd Annual Sea Isle City Community Day on May 21. During that event, information will be provided on many city programs and services. May 21 will also be the opening day for Gillian’s Funland Amusement Park.
Engineering and design work has been completed for our Central Avenue Paving and Utility Reconstruction Project (49th to 69th), which includes new sewer hook-ups, road reconstruction and surface repaving beginning this fall. We are still waiting to hear if we will be receiving federal grant money up to the tune of $1 million, which will help off-set the cost of this project. This spring, we delayed the project in the hopes of receiving grant money; however construction will begin this fall regardless of grant approval. It all depends on the federal government’s budget approval in the coming days, which will affect the amount of available federal grant money.
During our last meeting, City Council recognized 1st Bank of Sea Isle City for their high level of community involvement. In recent years, 1st Bank has donated a great deal of money to this community, much of which has been used for signage throughout town. The owners and employees of 1st Bank continue to be vital volunteers and supporters of local efforts – and we thank them for all they do.
PROJECT UPDATES:
JFK BOULEVARD BASKETBALL COURTS & PLAYGROUND: The low bid contractor, Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. (contract amount $631,000) will replace the severely deteriorated basketball courts and provide new lighting, fencing and sidewalks, along with resurfacing of the entire playground area adjacent to the basketball courts with a cushioned safety material similar to that at the Dealy Field complex. The playground equipment will be completely new (purchased under separate contract), with state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible equipment for children of all ages. Demolition and clearing of the existing site has been substantially completed, and new construction will start within the next week in order to keep the project on schedule for completion prior to the summer season.
EXCURSION PARK ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX: Work at the band shell continues with preparation for the application of exterior finishes and interior fittings for the facility, which will feature state-of-the-art audio equipment and provisions for showing outdoor movies, which will enhance the City’s popular “Movies Under The Stars” summertime event. The landscape walls are now over 75% complete, and framing of the pavilion is complete. The contractor remains on track to complete this project prior to Memorial Day Weekend and in time for the City's Tri for Our Veterans Triathlon.
MARINA BOAT RAMP: Construction of the concrete boat ramp continues, with concrete installation of the actual ramp now completed, along with re-decking of the adjacent fixed dock. The project remains on schedule for completion by the end of April.
MARINA BUILDING: The steel superstructure of the building has been erected in preparation for installation of the siding and roofing. In addition to Marina operations, the new facility will include public restrooms. The contractor is scheduled to complete the facility prior to the summer season.
80TH STREET WATER TOWER REHABILITATION AND REPAINTING: This project has been completed with the exception of the tower’s lettering, which will be the same as the previous lettering: “Townsends Inlet Sea Isle City.” The tank will be refilled and placed back into operation within the next two weeks. This was a critical project to maintain the City’s infrastructure in order to ensure the delivery of water during peak demand.
85TH STREET LIFEGUARD STATION/PUBLIC RESTROOMS: Work continues on framing, interior renovations, and exterior deck and access ramps to completely rehabilitate the structure, provide for handicapped accessible restrooms, additional restroom facilities and improved storage capacity for lifeguard operations. The project is being performed by City Public Works forces, providing for overall cost savings, as any contracted work for a project of this size would require the payment of New Jersey prevailing wage rates, which exceed the rates being paid to the City’s employees. The building will be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
LANDSCAPING ON EAST-SIDE OF SEA ISLE BRIDGE: The City has completed the landscaping design and site improvements at the City’s entrance near the base of the Sea Isle Bridge on JFK Boulevard. This project will also be performed by City Public Works forces, again providing for overall cost savings. Work will be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
59TH STREET FISHING PIER: Necessary structural repairs and re-decking of the fishing pier is another project being performed by City Public Works forces in advance of the summer season. This will enable the continued safe use of this popular destination for fishing and crabbing.

• The S.I.C. Recreation Department is hosting a free Easter Program for kids (up to age 11) on Wednesday, April 13 (rain date April 14), 4:30 p.m., Dealy Field. This event will feature a variety of activities, including an egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Info: 263-0050.
• The next City Council meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, inside Council Chambers, 233 JFK Boulevard, 2nd floor.
• April 19 is the last day to register to vote in Sea Isle’s municipal election on May 10, during which voters will choose a mayor and two city council members. You can drop-off your completed voters registration form at City Hall. On April 19, the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall will be open until 9:00 p.m.
• The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission’s Annual Spring Beach Clean-up is Saturday, April 30 (rain date: May 1). Volunteers are needed for this event, which begins at 10:00 a.m. For more info, phone (609) 263-2081.
• You can view “Sea Isle Minutes” and Sea Isle’s new TV commercials on You Tube, which you can easily access through the city’s website, www.seaislecitynj.us .
• Sea Isle City is once again a contender in the 4th Annual “New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches” contest. In 2010, we were rated #5 on the list of the Garden State’s best beach resorts and this year we hope to be #1, so please visit www.njtoptenbeaches.org and vote in all three categories: Family Vacation, Day Trips and Eco-Tourism. –And tell all of your friends to vote too!
