Sea Isle City Beach Replenishment Update

BEACHFILL PROJECT UPDATE

The dredge Illinois continues to pump sand onto the beaches of Sea Isle City from it’s location in Corson's Inlet adjacent to Strathmere. Beachfill operations are now completed in the north end of the City.

The beachfill has moved downtown, from 40th to 52nd Street.

The downtown work is expected to take place between about August 17th and the last week of August. The sand is conveyed via a pipeline, which extends from the dredge in Corson’s Inlet to the area of the fill. The pipe will eventually extend all the way to 52nd Street. Once the beachfill is completed, it will take several days to dismantle the pipeline. All beaches will remain open during the project with the exception of about four to six blocks in the area of the fill. As the fill moves to the south, the beaches behind the fill will be reopened and the beaches in front of the fill will be closed.

Questions regarding the project can be directed to Sea Isle City Director of Public Works, John Manganaro, at 609 263-6000, ext. 3; or e-mail jmanganaro@seaislecitynj.us .
